Litigation Support
Salmon Sims Thomas offers a full range of litigation services to attorneys and their clients. Litigation support services include expert testimony and forensic accounting for cases involving family law, fraud, personal liability and breach of contract.
Our role often involves business valuation, determination of damages, or tracing of funds. During the engagement, we help define key issues, perform economic fact finding, and analyze the information provided by the opposing side. We prepare reports on the financial and accounting issues involved, assist in negotiation if requested, possibly testify in court, and analyze the tax implications of any proposed settlements.
Because we are a general accounting and consulting firm, we approach cases with a practical business perspective, and juries seem to understand and respect this practical outlook. Accounting is the language of business, therefore we are able to bring clarity to business transactions and explain their meaning to judges and juries.
Recent litigation support projects have included:
- Assisting in developing the economic theory of cases and determining what information should be sought during the discovery processes,
- Analyzing and interpreting data supplied by opposing parties,
- Assisting negotiations by providing quantification and presentation of various scenarios,
